HATCHERY DIVISION

Produce quality craylings to farms that need a consistent supply.

The hatchery is carried out on selected broodstock following certain criteria. Genetic variation is among the main focuses to ensure that craylings produced are strong and from fast growing variation.

Hatcheries are the lifeblood of commercial farming in general.

FWC had set up hatcheries as early as a year before the opening of commercial farms, a shortage of craylings in current market causing less effort to commercialize freshwater lobster farming.

LAT’s craylings naturally have high cannibalism instinct before reaching size of 3″ or 3 months. This makes hatching process quite difficult with high densities.

With the study that has been conducted along with the trials of several SOPs, FWC has successfully conducted systematic seeding.
